Our Students
Over 97% of the students enrolled in S.T.A.R.S. are African American. All the students attend CMS schools and most are enrolled in F.O.C.U.S. (Finding Opportunities; Creating Unparalleled Success) schools, which are identified by the District as needing additional resources to support student achievement. Most of the students live below the poverty level in singleāparent households and struggle with Hyperactivity Disorder, academic underperformance, poor peer relations, high rates of unexcused absences and grade retention.
