EOG Bootcamp

Program Overview

  1. Mission – To prepare all students with the skills necessary to achieve academic growth on the End-of-Grade (EOG) tests in Reading and Math.
  2. Vision – Enhance the Reading and Math fundamentals of all students so that they can become better students.
  3. Requirements – A parent or guardian of each participating child must complete a participation form and emergency contact form, as well as submit each child’s most recent EOG test scores. It is recommended that a parent or teacher list the child’s area(s) for improvement.
  4. General Information – The program will meet at the Ivory Baker Recreation Center. Participating students are in grades 3-8. Students will be divided into groups according to grade level. Grades 3-5 will meet on Monday & Wednesday and grades 6-8 will meet on Tuesday & Thursday. Students will participate in roll call every day and attendance will be monitored. A parent or guardian must sign out students at the end of each session.
  5. Duration – The S.T.A.R.S. Math & English Academy EOG Boot Camp will run for nine weeks from March until May. The program will run Mondays through Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
  6. Learning Materials – Each student will receive an academic folder to keep all work and materials. Reading and math lessons will be gathered from grade-level appropriate reading and math books. Dictionaries, thesauruses, stationery, and other resource materials will be available at the program sites.

Daily Activities

6:00-6:10 p.m. – Student check-in, roll call
6:10-7:00 p.m. – Instructors lead reading or math academic fundamental sessions
7:00-7:15 p.m. – Snack Break
7:15-8:00 p.m. – Instructors assist students with reading or math assignments
8:00 p.m. – Parent or guardian signs out student(s)
