On October 23rd, Elijah Watson was honored with a Presidential Service Award by the Morehouse College National Alumni Association. The award is given annually to alumni that have shown exemplary commitment to their respective communities. Elijah was honored with the award because of his involvement with the S.T.A.R.S. Math & English Academy, which he founded. Beginning as a tutoring program serving 15 students in 2000, S.T.A.R.S. currently provides academic enrichment and soft skills development to 120 Charlotte, NC students at three sites.
Elijah accepted the award on behalf of the Charlotte Chapter of the Morehouse College Alumni Association and the teachers, volunteer tutors, and students of the S.T.A.R.S. Math & English Academy. |
